The Carolina Caring Foundation is celebrating the remarkable success of its 4th annual Flights & Bites fundraiser, which took place on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, at Moretz Mills in Hickory, NC. This year’s event exceeded expectations, raising over $45,000 to support Carolina Caring’s mission of providing compassionate care to patients and families.
An Evening of Global Flavors
Guests at the fundraiser were treated to an exquisite culinary experience titled “Passport to Flavor,” featuring tastes from around the world. The catering was masterfully provided by Cranford Hospitality of Hickory, represented by Zack Cranford and Ben Sullivan.
Chef Ben Sullivan, who graduated summa cum laude from Johnson & Wales Charlotte campus and brings over 20 years of experience as a chef and restaurateur in North Carolina, curated a delicious five-course meal. As the current director of culinary operations for Cranford Hospitality, Chef Sullivan’s expertise shone through each carefully crafted dish.
Perfect Pairings
Complementing the global cuisine were expertly selected wines provided by Winebow Fine Wines & Spirits, an importer and distributor based in Glen Allen, VA. Each wine was thoughtfully paired with the “Passport to Flavor” courses, enhancing the international dining experience.
Community Support Makes a Difference
“Carolina Caring Foundation expresses heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors and donors for their generous support in making our fundraiser a tremendous success,” stated Tara Bland, CFRE, Executive Director of the Carolina Caring Foundation. “We are deeply thankful for the contributions from sponsors, ticket sales, dedicated staff volunteers, and the in-kind donations for our silent auction.”
This marks the second consecutive year that the Flights & Bites fundraiser has been held in Catawba County, and the event continues to be warmly embraced by communities throughout Carolina Caring’s service area.
Supporting Compassionate Care for All
The funds raised from this event directly support Carolina Caring’s mission to provide the highest level of hospice and palliative care to everyone in need, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. This commitment ensures that no one is turned away from receiving compassionate care during difficult times.
