Cindy Stamey, Director of Community and Veterans Relations for Carolina Caring, has been recognized with the prestigious Veterans Spirit and Soul Award by Foothills Veterans Helping Veterans (FVHV), a dedicated nonprofit serving veterans and their families in the foothills of Western North Carolina for over a decade.
This award holds special significance for Cindy, given her deep-rooted commitment to veteran’s outreach and relations at Carolina Caring. In her role, she actively engages with veterans through initiatives such as veterans’ coffees in three counties and the Walk a Mile with Me support group for spouses, widows, and caregivers of veterans. Cindy provides presentations about veteran affairs and benefits to the community and staff, along with promoting the organization’s veteran volunteer program.
Cindy’s passion for supporting veterans is deeply personal as her father is an Air Force veteran. This unique connection has fueled her lifelong dedication to honoring and serving those who have bravely served our country.
Reflecting on her involvement with FVHV, Cindy shared, “This is my second family. They are always there for me, loving and encouraging. They extend this warmth to everyone who shows up. We are a big family with a heart for veterans.”
The FVHV, comprising compassionate volunteers committed to supporting veterans, hosted its 12th annual Foothills Veterans Stand Down at Catawba Valley Community College on April 12, where they presented Cindy with this esteemed award. This event, attended by over 300 veterans, provided essential services including food, clothing, medical and dental care, and various community resources aimed at enhancing veterans’ lives.
Cindy has been an integral part of the planning and execution of the Foothills Veterans Stand Down since its inception, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to supporting veterans in need. Her exceptional contributions led to her recent appointment to the Board of Directors of FVHV, where she aims to foster growth and expand outreach efforts to engage more veterans in the community.
The recognition of Cindy with the veteran spirit and soul award is a testament to her exemplary leadership dedication and tireless efforts in supporting veterans and their families.
