We are proud to serve veterans and are dedicated to improving services for these resilient men and women who have served our nation so faithfully.

We have a deep-seated passion for taking care of veterans and their families and are able to serve the many needs that come with caring for our nation’s heroes.

Our specialized care and end-of-life services are available in veterans’ homes or in a variety of settings, including hospitals and assisted living facilities as well as nursing homes or in our Hospice Houses.

We also provide educational resources for caregivers so they can best help those who served preserve dignity during these difficult times.

As a volunteer-based hospice service in North Carolina, we are in need of veteran volunteers! If you are a veteran and are interested in supporting other veterans who are experiencing a serious illness – please join us.

Veteran volunteers help veterans by:

  • Provide a sense of community and connect with veterans in hospice

  • Offer compassionate listening as veterans share their stories about their military service

  • Honor fellow veterans for their service to our great nation

The We Honor Veterans program is a national awareness campaign started by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

Carolina Caring is currently one of only a handful of organizations in North Carolina to have achieved one of the highest levels of participation in the We Honor Veterans program.

Active participation in this program means:

  • Commitment to honoring veterans at the end of life

  • Continuously assessing the capabilities we have to serve veterans

  • Learning more about palliative care for veterans

  • Finding resources to support veterans at the end of life

  • Providing veteran-focused education for staff
